In the beginning, there was the sports car – that’s how the story goes for Porsche Design watches at least, which have always been inspired by the car’s functional instruments. Time to come full circle: with the Sport Chrono Package featuring the Porsche Design Subsecond watch, Porsche is returning to where it all began – the car itself. And those wanting to experience the unmistakable Porsche feeling can now do so, thanks to the perfectly matching Sport Chrono Collection. It transforms the timeless design of Porsche instruments into exclusive timepieces: available as both Subsecond and Chronograph versions.
The Sport Chrono Subsecond boasts a stylish, minimalist design, while its highly contrasting needles complete laps around the metal dial – optionally available in black, brown or blue with a matching strap made of genuine Porsche interior leather. Its silver-colored case made of light, durable titanium makes it a timeless piece of jewellery that combines engineering ingenuity with design expertise.
As is usual for Porsche Design watches, the white needles and indices of the Sport Chrono Chronograph are optimally accentuated against the matte black dial, guaranteeing optimum readability. Its durable titanium case – also available in black – and matching strap made of genuine Porsche interior leather comfortably hug the wearer's wrist, immediately catching the eye – without ever imposing itself.
For years, Porsche and Porsche Design have been transforming their core competencies into independently developed, technical masterpieces of watchmaking excellence. Two of these are featured in the Sport Chrono Collection: the Subsecond watch features the caliber WERK 03.200 with a decentralised current second display; the Chronograph uses the caliber WERK 01.100 and also has a stop function, which can be viewed through the model’s sapphire crystal case back. Like all calibres developed in-house by Porsche Design, both movements are COSC-certified, meaning they meet the highest standards of precision. Unmistakable design. In Porsche quality.
As early as 1963, the Porsche 911 was equipped with an electrically driven clock as part of the five-tube instruments. In the early 2000s, Porsche added a central auxiliary instrument in the middle of the dashboard that was originally intended to display lap times. Even today, the Subsecond watch in the new Sport Chrono Package is an electrically powered clock produced by the “Manufaktur” – optimally displaying the time thanks to its matte black dial, Super-Luminova-coated hands and ceramic indices.
