1919 Chronotimer Flyback Blue & Leather
Time for a New Icon
The Porsche 911 is an icon that has lost none of its fascinating appeal. Created by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1963, it has been the gold standard for sports cars ever since, epitomizing a perfect combination of design and performance. The formula behind the success was incredibly simple: no gimmicks or fancy flourishes, just form and function in perfect harmony. F. A. Porsche stuck with this formula when he founded Porsche Design in 1972, with the clear mission to bring motorsports flair to everyday life.Shop now
Highlights THERE'S MORE TO GET EXCITED ABOUT THAN JUST THE TECHNOLOGY; THE DESIGN IS HIGHLY IMPRESSIVE TOO.
The workshop doesn’t merely make watches, but true masterpieces. The 1919 Chronotimer Flyback is made with 100% titanium, for low weight and high performance.
This high-tech material is 40% lighter than stainless steel and has been key to race car engine construction for many years.
There are also parallels to sports cars in the strap, which is made of fine calfskin – the same material used in the interiors of Porsche sports cars.
Driving Porsche nonstop would be difficult.
But wearing Porsche nonstop is perfectly possible.
With the Chronograph I, F. A. Porsche brought the Porsche 911 legend to the wrists of watch lovers around the world. The case, strap, and face are completely in black – just like the speedometer and rev counter in the 911. This color scheme wasn’t just chosen on a whim, but because it allows a quicker and more accurate read-off. Based on this milestone of watchmaking history, Porsche Design developed the 1919 Chronotimer Flyback. With its supreme functionality and streamlined design, the chronograph is a worthy match for its great predecessor. That’s thanks to the work of the Porsche Design watchmaking workshop in Solothurn, where Swiss craftsmanship meets automotive engineering.
PRECISION DESIGNED IN AUSTRIA, SWISS MADE
The heart of the chronograph is the Porsche Design WERK 01.200 caliber, which is the result of three years of development. As well as the typical Porsche precision, Porsche Design’s first ever in-house movement also offers the cutting-edge flyback function, based on the principle that what’s essential on the racetrack is also useful in day-to-day life.
Start, stop, and reset functions are combined into a single mechanism so that successive times can be effortlessly measured. It’s not just time measurement where precision is of prime importance; every movement is intensively tested for accuracy by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC), a neutral authority in Switzerland. Only watches certified by COSC are permitted to bear the prestigious title “Chronometer” on their face.
