ROCK 'N' ROLL
ON THE WRIST.
The Zeitgeist of the 50s and early 60s as well as a piece of Porsche history on the wrist: the Chronograph 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition. An iconic masterpiece. And the latest member of our timepiece family.
The Chronograph has been designed exclusively for the future owners of the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition. Its elegant appearance is a reference to the origins of Porsche. Or to be more precise: the legendary Porsche 356 and the style-defining Porsche 911 Targa. The numerous design features and materials of both iconic sports cars are not only found in the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition but also in this very special timepiece from Porsche Design – a limited edition of 992.
THE 50S ARE BACK.
IT’S ABOUT TIME.
WHO SAID THAT YOU CAN’T TURN BACK TIME? WELL NOW YOU CAN.
Time passes. But you can repeat it. For example, in the form of very special 911 models that reinterpret the iconic design elements, special colours, patterns and materials of Porsche cars from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s showing what was cool back then, is still cool today.
The starting signal is given in the 50s and early 60s – with a special model inspired by the purism of that time: the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition. Porsche Design is also rewriting contemporary history exclusively for the owners of this car. With a timepiece that pays a special tribute to Porsche history and quotes iconic design elements.
Attention to detail allows the iconic style and design elements to be fully appreciated, as well as the unique Porsche Heritage. Exactly like the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, the new timepiece also quotes the historical instrument cluster of the Porsche 356. Because the dial is modelled on the look of the old speedometer: with a white second hand and green rings in the characteristic and original Phosphorus Green of the rev counter. The hour markers are written in the typical Porsche font and, thanks to the luminous Super-LumiNova, also glow in the dark – for optimum readability, regardless of the time of day. The PD Icon is gold-coloured – just like the Porsche logo that adorns the rear of the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition.
JOURNEY THROUGH TIME. PRECISELY TO THE SECOND.
Timeless. Or ahead of the times. The Chronograph 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition combines both. Whilst well protected in the innovative titanium case, the heart of the watch is at work: the WERK 01.100. The high-quality, in-house Porsche Design Chronograph calibre with COSC certification guarantees maximum precision.
Even the strap is reminiscent of the new edition and, therefore, the historic Targa. It is made of genuine Porsche vehicle leather and delivered in two different lengths, in Bordeaux Red and black. And the stitching? Is tone-in-tone. Another detail is the “911” that is embossed on the leather strap. It leaves no doubt as to the precedent for the latest Timepieces model: the Porsche 911, quite simply the sports car icon.
AND THE ROTOR?
It writes history. Its shape is based on the legendary Fuchs alloy wheel, which was designed for the first Porsche 911. It is available in black (high-gloss) or satin platinum – analogous to the vehicle configuration – and is therefore not only a technical highlight but also a visual one. The historic crest in the centre of the rotor also pays tribute to the origins of the Porsche brand. Exactly like the limited edition number that corresponds to the car and is laser-engraved onto the bottom of the case. Because this iconic chronograph is exclusively reserved for owners of the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition. And is only available in exactly the same numbers as the car itself.
So, if you’re wondering, is it a piece of jewellery or a collector’s item? Our answer: both.
